Curran Renewable Energy
The St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency continues to assist Curran Renewable Energy as they work to bring their wood pellet mill online in Massena. In addition to providing an $8,000,000 bond issue in December of 2007, the Agency put together a financial incentive package for the project that included participation from the IDA Local Development Corporation, the Greater Massena Economic Development Fund, the Seaway Private Equity Corporation, Empire State Development, and the Ogdensburg Empire Zone.

On September 7, 2007 at Newton falls Fine Paper Company, in Mr. Andy Leroux’s words, “We put pulp in the pulper for the first time in almost eight years. Two hours and twenty minutes later, we had paper on the reel. There were tears in a lot of people’s eyes that morning.” The Newton Falls Fine Paper Company was alive after many years thanks to the hard work of an initial group of founders and the cooperative efforts of the St. Lawrence County IDA, New York State Empire State Development Corporation, Clifton Fine Economic Development Corporation, and the local citizens.

The St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Rushton Room of the University Inn / Best Western, Canton.
Meetings of the IDA's Local Development Corporation and the IDA's Civic Development Corporation will follow.
The meetings are open to the public.
Special Meeting
The St. Lawrence County Civic Development Corporation will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 6:45 PM at the Massena Town Hall (Room 27) to discuss amending and restating a bond resolution related to Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
The public is invited to attend.
