New Horizons Wireless March 2011

St. Lawrence County Local Development Corporation Provides Business Financing to New Horizons Wireless, Inc.

Canton, New York, March 30, 2011 - The St. Lawrence County Local Development Corporation is providing a $35,000 grant and $20,000 loan to New Horizons Wireless, Inc. of Lisbon.  Funds will be used to purchase equipment and for working capital to aid in business startup.

New Horizons Wireless, Inc. is an innovative startup company that aims to provide fast, reliable and competitively priced wireless broadband internet connections to rural communities in upstate New York.  Company President Chad Rice has chosen to focus on bringing service to rural areas where broadband is not currently available, or expensive to procure.  By using an innovative signal transmission plan and sophisticated software, his goal is to fill the gap in service to rural communities that larger providers do not address.

“We at New Horizons Wireless are very excited and grateful for the support from the SLCLDC,” states Rice.  “We will take this opportunity and utilize these funds to expand our existing network throughout rural St. Lawrence County.  This will help us continue bringing affordable high speed internet to those that have little or no options.  With the help from the SLCLDC we will be deploying equipment this spring and summer to cover Madrid, Waddington, Norfolk, Chase Mills, DePeyster, Morristown, Brier Hill, Black Lake Area, Rensselaer Falls and everything in between.”

“We are pleased to be providing assistance to Chad and New Horizons Wireless in their efforts to bring broadband access to the rural parts of our County”, states Raymond Fountain, CEO of the SLCLDC.  “Internet is a necessity in today’s world, and we are glad to support this project that will bring connectivity to unserved and underserved communities.”

New Horizons is currently providing service in and around the areas of Norwood, Lisbon, parts of the town of Waddington, and Heuvelton.  New locations are being added continually.  For more information or to place a request for service, please contact Chad at or by calling 353-5094.  You can also find them on the web at
